JY’s forelock comes Adrift

Princess Grace of Monaco’s engrossing chat on the JY programme has left red faces at the BBC.

Princess Grace of Monaco’s engrossing chat on the JY programme yesterday has left red faces at the BBC. Throughout bewigged Young’s forelock-touching talk with Princess Grace he continually referred to the former movie queen as “Your Royal Highness.”

Grace is regal, but not entitled to more than “Your Serene Highness.”

Indeed, Monaco’s own officials in London were rather surprised by Jim’s over-respectful approach. “We told the BBC the correct way of addressing Princess Grace but obviously Jimmy young felt safer going over the top,” says a spokesman.

Young, OBE, was also careful to avoid asking Princess Grace any interesting questions about recent romantic turmoils in her Principality. The whole exercise was planned to publicise Princess Grace’s new book about flowers.

“We were offered first crack at Princess Grace by her publishers,” admits Young’s producer, Harry Walters. “There was no way we were going to ask any embarrassing questions. She is a great fan of the show.”
